Find Just About Anything with Tile's Lost Item Finder

2015-11-23

Every day we are blown away by the stories we get from the Tile community about the ways they are using Tile to save time and find peace of mind. Today we want to take a step back and look at the bigger picture.

Here are a handful of insights we have picked up:

What do people lose more than anything?

Here are the top 5 most-frequently Tiled items:

1) Keys
2) Wallets
3) Backpacks/Purses
4) Luggage
5) Pets

When do people lose their stuff the most?

We see the most activity between 2 PM and 4 PM. Alternately, we see the least amount of Tile activity between 3 AM and 4 AM. As far as seasons go, the last three months of every year are when we see the most Tile activations.

How often do people actually lose their stuff?

Frequently! Every three seconds a Tile rings. That means 20 times a minute people are using the Tile app to ring their lost item. Not to mention all of the Tiles used to ring and find phones, or the Tiles marked as lost, to be detected with community find. Every week we find around 250,000 lost or misplaced items.

How much time do people spend looking for their stuff?

On average, people spend about 10 minutes a day looking for their lost stuff. Interestingly the average time it takes someone to find something with Tile is about 14 seconds….think about what you could do with all of that extra time.

What happens when they can't find it?

Leveraging Tile's notify when found feature, Tile users have been reunited with their lost bags, iPads, bikes, and even, their cars. Here are some incredible stories of Community Find in action:
Man recovers stolen Van 100 miles away. Tile finds photographer's lost luggage across the globe. Stolen projector returned from pawn shop.

How big is the Tile community, really?

Pretty big, actually! If you combine the collective reach of everyone using the Tile app, you could cover every square inch of Massachusetts.
